This position performs tax audits on businesses. Employees receive formal and on-the-job training, by assisting higher-level staff conduct audits and independently conducting routine audit assignments. Work involves conducting audits of company financial records and tax returns to determine compliance with Missouri state tax laws. Close supervision is received from a Tax Audit Supervisor or other superior; however, as experience is gained, supervision becomes more general, and the employee exercises increasing independence and initiative in the performance of assignments within established policies and procedures. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major specialization (24 semester hours) in accounting (One year of professional accounting or auditing experience will substitute for up to six earned credit hours of the required specialization in Accounting).
