The Compliance and Investigation Bureau is responsible for maintaining a climate of voluntary compliance with applicable state laws by investigating complaints relating to fraudulent activities involving motor vehicle sales tax, titling and registration, odometer, driver’s license, license plates, cigarette tax, and diesel fuel tax. The Bureau insures compliance with licensing regulations for motor vehicle dealers, marine dealers, and salvage businesses. An agent will possess a badge and credentials issued by the DOR, identifying them as a Special Agent, authorized to conduct investigations related to matters set forth in the Revised Statutes of Missouri. Possession of a current Missouri Peace Officer License, in good standing, is highly preferred. Licensed Peace Officers in this position are considered "Peace Officers of the State" and have the power of arrest. A candidate should have several years of experience in law enforcement or a closely related field, and investigative experience is preferred.
